Crystal field theory
Please note that the compound in problems 2 and 3 is not actually real. The coordination number for the compound as written is 8, which is not possible. This is because (en) - ethylenediamine is a bidentate ligand. If (en) were monodentate, it would be octahedral as in problem 3. This is not actually correct, but the example can still be useful.

MO diagrams for 2nd row diatomics
This picture shows the MO diagrams for the 2nd row diatomic (homonuclear) molecules. Note that the relative energies change for the MOs as you change the identity of the molecule. This picture also shows where the sp mixing effectively "turns off".
